From Side Hustle to $300 Million: Brian Moran’s Blueprint to building an 8-figure business

On the latest episode of the Ultra High Net Worth Clients Podcast, SamCart co‑founder Brian Moran revealed how a small side hustle grew into a $300 million SaaS business — and why his journey holds the exact playbook creators and entrepreneurs can use to scale their own businesses. Check out the preview below.

The Frustration that Sparked SamCart

Back in 2014, Brian wasn’t dreaming up the next big SaaS company. He was just trying to solve a problem he knew all too well. As he explained, “When someone clicked to go buy something, they usually entered a really ugly, old‑school, slow page… We wanted that same technology [as Amazon] of letting people buy stuff with one click to get your customers’ value up as fast as possible.”

That obsession with turning every visitor into a customer — not just processing payments — became the DNA of SamCart to help all other entrepreneurs out there with these same challenges.

From Baseball to Business

Brian never set out to run a tech company. After college, he thought baseball was his future. “I graduated college in 2009 after I realized my destiny was not playing Major League Baseball,” he recalled. Instead, he landed a desk job — and hated every minute of it.

Bored and restless, he launched a baseball website and soon stumbled on digital products. “I thought, well, that looks pretty easy and cheap as long as I have a camera. I don’t need to invent a product or deal with shipping,” he said. That led to his next venture, Get10,000Fans.com, which taught Facebook marketing and scaled to over $4 million a year.

The Hard Truths about Success

An an entrepreneur either starting your first online business or scaling your business, Brian’s story, tips, and pitfalls of what not to do will resonate…

In this episode, Brian shares:

  • How to build your first campaign (and what not to do)

  • How to leverage your existing audience before spending on ads.

  • Why you don’t have to be an expert at marketing or sales to be successful in this space

  • When you’re scaling, why you shouldn’t fear raising capital

  • The importance of using the right tools so the tech doesn’t hold you back

Ultimately, it’s all about giving entrepreneurs powerful tools without enterprise‑level complexity.

“There’s a lot of people sitting on really great ideas… but they’re just held back because the process is too damn complicated. Our goal is to simplify that process, make it easier to launch and scale without needing teams and enterprise tools that cost tens of thousands a month,” Brian says.

Don’t Miss the Full Story!

If you’re a creator or entrepreneur ready to scale, this episode is packed with lessons you can apply immediately.

“Our mission is to empower those entrepreneurs… because with the right tools, you can change a lot of lives.”
