Cookie Notice

Last updated: November 19th, 2021

This cookie notice applies to SamCart and each of its global subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “SamCart”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

Like most businesses, we employ “cookies” or similar technologies.  This cookie notice tells you about our use of cookies and similar technologies on our websites, applications, and other services (“Services”).  For further information about how we use, store, disclose and process personal information that we obtain through or in connection with the use of our Service, please visit our privacy policy.

When you first access our Services from certain jurisdictions, you may receive a message advising you that cookies and similar technologies are in use.  By clicking “ACCEPT” you signify that you understand and agree to the use of these technologies, as described in this cookie notice.

You do not have to accept cookies and consent can be withdrawn at any time (See “How to Control Cookies”, below). You can change your browser settings to refuse or restrict cookies, and you may delete them after they have been placed on your device at any time.  If you do not accept or delete our cookies, some areas of our Services that you access may take more time to work, or may not function properly.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small files containing a string of characters which we may store on your computer or mobile device when you visit our Services.  When you visit our Services, the cookies allow us to recognise your browser. Cookies may store your preferences and other information but cannot read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites.

Cookies set by a website owner (in this case, SamCart) are called “first party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”.  Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the Service (i.e., advertising, social media functions and analytics).

A “session cookie” is stored only in your computer’s working memory (RAM) and only lasts for your browsing session. When you close all your browser’s windows, or when you shut down your computer, the session cookie disappears forever.

A “persistent cookie” remains on your computer after you close your browser so that it can be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Service. Persistent cookies stay on your computer until either they expire or are overwritten with newer cookies, or you manually remove them.

2. The Cookies We Use

Cookies make the use of our Services easier by, among other things, saving your preferences.  We may also use cookies to deliver content tailored to your interests. Our cookies may enable us to relate your use of our Services to personal information that you previously submitted.

The information that we collect with cookies allows us to statistically analyze usage of our Services, and to improve and customize our content and other offerings. However, we only disclose information collected with cookies to third parties on an aggregated basis without the use of any information that personally identifies you.

The specific types of first party and third party cookies placed by our Services and the purposes they perform are described in the table below:

4. Web Beacons

As well as cookies, we use other technologies to recognize and track visitors to our Services. A web beacon (also known as a “tracking pixel” or “clear GIF”) is a clear graphic image (typically a one-pixel tag) that is delivered through a web browser or HTML e-mail, typically in conjunction with a cookie.Web beacons allows us, for example, to monitor how users move from one page within our Services to another, to track access to our communications, to understand whether users have come to our Services from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to measure how ads have been viewed and to improve Services performance.

5. Targeted Advertising

SamCart may allow third parties to help us collect and analyze information about your use of the Services, generate aggregate site usage statistics and provide content sharing services to support the Services. These third parties may also use cookies and similar technologies to collect similar information about your use of the Services. SamCart does not control the third parties’ use of such technologies and their use is governed by those parties’ privacy policies.

SamCart may also allow third-party ad servers or ad networks to serve advertisements on the Site and on third-party services. These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to send, directly to your browser, the advertisements and links that appear on SamCart. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. They may also use other technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons) to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalize the advertising content. SamCart does not provide any information that can identify you personally to these third-party ad servers or ad networks without your consent. However, please note that if an advertiser asks SamCart to show an advertisement to a certain audience and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser or ad server may conclude that you fit the description of the audience they are trying to reach.

If we decide to change our cookie notice, we will post those changes on this page, and update the cookie notice modification date above. In some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a notice to our Services prior to the change becoming effective, or by sending you an email notification).
