SamPay: A Guide to SamCart's Payment Processor

June 16, 2023

At SamCart, we’re dedicated to giving our customers an unparalleled ecommerce platform. As we continue to upgrade our customers’ experience using SamCart, we’re proud to offer a new payment processor—SamPay. With SamPay, you can accept multiple ecommerce payment methods, access all the latest financial products and features from SamCart, easily review payment info, and initiate Instant Payouts.

What Is SamPay?

SamPay is SamCart’s new default payment processor that’s designed to house all of SamCart’s existing and future financial products and features. Currently, this payment processor makes it possible for our merchants to use the SamCart Dashboard to initiate Instant Payouts. Besides offering Instant Payouts and an extensive “Payouts” section on the SamCart dashboard, SamPay also allows users to offer Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment options.

How Is SamPay Different From Other Payment Processors SamCart Offers?

If you’re accustomed to using other payment processors through SamCart, you should know that your user experience will be largely the same when you switch to SamPay. For example, when you decide to use SamPay, the information you’ll need to enter for onboarding will remain unchanged. Likewise, the merchant onboarding flow is also incredibly similar, with the main onboarding change being that SamPay will be featured more prominently.

The biggest change in the SamCart Dashboard is a new section called “Payouts.” In this section of the SamCart Dashboard, merchants who use SamCart can check their available balances to pay out to their bank. After initiating the payout to their connected bank account, merchants can receive their funds within minutes via our new Instant Payouts feature. This addition of a “Payouts” section on the SamCart Dashboard simplifies the payout process while helping merchants receive money faster.

In this Payouts section, you can also see payment information and other financial data more easily. Previously, you’d have to log into your Stripe account outside of SamCart to see payout information. With SamPay, we’ve eliminated this extra step. Instead of having to navigate to another website for information, you can now see your payout schedule, associated transactions, and the amount of money your bank account will receive, all in one easy-to-access location.

What eCommerce Payment Methods Are Available Through SamPay?

Like the other payment processors on our site, SamPay allows you to accept multiple ecommerce methods of payment. Through SamPay, your online store can accept the best payment options in use today. As a comprehensive ecommerce gateway, SamPay gives you the ability to accept payments from all the major credit and debit card companies. Besides enabling payments through credit or debit cards, SamPay lets you accept digital wallets, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Microsoft Pay.

Besides these standard payment methods, SamPay also allows you to set up BNPL payment options. With this new BNPL payment feature, you can increase your customers’ payment flexibility, improve security, and raise conversions. When you offer BNPL on your site, a customer will make a purchase through one of our BNPL providers, such as Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm, and the provider will pay you the full amount of the purchase. The customer will then repay the provider via predetermined installments on a payment schedule.

Can You Still Use Other Payment Processors Through SamCart?

While we’ll be encouraging our merchants to use SamPay, you can still use other payment processors. For example, Stripe, Easy Pay Direct, PayPal, Braintree, and Authorize.net are still available through SamCart. However, we’re still encouraging our customers to make the switch to SamPay, as it will give them instant access to our new financial products and features.

Will Processing Fees for Marketplace Owners Be Affected?

SamPay is free to use for SamCart customers, and processing fees are the same as they are on Stripe. As a result, you won’t need to adjust for higher processing fees, making it even easier to seamlessly integrate SamPay into your ecommerce website without affecting your financials.

Does SamPay Limit Where It Can Be Used?

Like Stripe, SamPay does limit its use in some locations. You can review where SamPay can or can’t be used by checking location restrictions at https://stripe.com/global

Will Customers Lose Historic Stripe Data After Migrating to SamPay?

When you migrate from Stripe to SamPay, you won’t lose any of your historic Stripe data. After migrating, you’ll still have all the historical financial data from Stripe to inform your sales efforts, and existing Stripe customers shouldn’t notice any differences after migration.
