A free plus shipping offer is a really simple way to get a lot of new customers by offering them a small physical product for just a small shipping fee. In this video, we’ll walk you through how to create your own “free plus shipping” product from scratch, in 6 easy steps.
Step 1: Your Item Idea
The key is to think of something related to your main product and something your customer would benefit from. (ie a guitar is your main product so you are offering free plus shipping guitar picks).
Remember you are trying to add to the value of your main product! The easiest product for this is a small, self-written report giving more information about a topic related to your main product. Examples could be:
Step 2: Writing the report
I usually do this on a google doc so I can edit it while i’m on the go and share it with my team. The title of your report will become the outline! Don’t worry about being a perfect writer; just make sure your content is valuable to your customer. This part usually takes about 3-4 days.
Step 3: Get your report designed
We highly recommend using 99Designs for this step. They are extremely helpful and cost-efficient. You want your report to look professional so your customers trust the information you are trying to share.
Step 4: Get it printed
There are a lot of options for getting your report printed, but we prefer to use Vervante.
You want to make sure you ask that your pamphlet be printed in a saddle stitch booklet, on #28 card stock and in digital color. That will ensure your report looks and feels professional, and your customer will feel like they received something truly valuable. Step 5: Creating a landing page for your new report
Here’s the good news on this step: you don’t need anything complicated! As long as you have a solid landing page that includes the 7 major sales elements, you are good to go.
