Yep, according to the folks from iLoveCouponMonth.com (they collect and analyze coupon usage stats) the group who uses coupons the most are in the higher income brackets. I guess it makes sense if you think about it.

Another interesting stat that caught my attention was this one:

78% of surveyed consumers said they would prefer coupons to be automatically applied to their purchases.

Here Are 3 Ways You Can Use Coupons To Increase Your Sales:

1. The “Thank You” Coupon

Automatically email every new customer a special savings coupon for a related product from your product line.

Your email might say:

“As a way to say thanks for ordering (insert product name) I’ve included a coupon for our new product. It compliments the product you just purchased so I thought you might be interested. Just type in the coupon code (XXXXXX) in the checkout page and you’ll save 50% instantly. This coupon is only good for the next 3 days. Thanks again!”

2. The “Pre-Order” Coupon

Offer a discount to your email subscribers if they pre-order your upcoming product release.

Your email might say:

“Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I’m releasing version 2.0 of  (insert product name) in 2 weeks. The cost will be $XXX.xx but for the next 7 days you can pre-order your copy and save 50%. Just type in the coupon code (XXXXXX) in the checkout page and you’ll save $200.00 instantly.”

3. The “2 For” Coupon

Offer 2 products for the price of one. Just make sure you have a valid reason for doing so.

“Hey I just got into an argument with my brother. He said there’s no way I could get a bunch of sales during the next 4 days while simultaneously making my email subscribers super happy. So I need your help in proving him wrong. Here’s the deal. You know my product (insert product name)? Well, it sells all day long for $XXX.xx and you know my other product (insert product name)? Well, it’s even better and sells for only $XX.xx. For the next 3 days only, when you buy (insert product name) you will also get (insert product name). And you’ll help me by showing my brother he has no idea what he’s talking about. :-P”

How To Create A Coupon From Your SamCart™ Dashboard

1.) Click Coupon From Your Left Side Dashboard

After you click “Coupon” on the left, go ahead and click “New Coupon” on the far right.

2.) Coupon Code

This is the code that your customers will type into the box on your checkout page. Example: 20peroff, 40off

3.) Coupon Duration

If a product is a recurring product how do you want the coupon handled? The coupon can be applied once to the initial purchase or for every recurring charge.

 4.) Attach Coupon To Product

Optionally you can attach a coupon to a product. This means the coupon will only be valid for that specific product.

5.) Choose % or $ Off

This section gives you the choice to choose a dollar amount off of your product or a percentage off.

6.) Set Coupon Expiration (optional)

This feature is great if you want the offer to expire automatically. Just pick your desired future date and the coupon will expire automatically.

7.) Create Coupon

Next, click “Create Coupon” and you’re done!

8.) Email Coupon Code To Your Subscribers & Customers

Instruct your subscriber and customers to enter your coupon code on your checkout page.
